Black Cumin Seed –

Black Cumin Seed, (Nigella sativa) is one the most revered medicinal seeds in history. The best seeds come from Egypt where they grow under almost perfect conditions in oases where they are watered until the seed pods form. Black cumin seeds were found in the tomb of Tutankhamun. Though black cumin seeds are mentioned in the Bible as well as in the words of the Prophet Mohammed, who stated Black Cumin seeds cures everything but death itself.

It wasn’t carefully researched until about forty years ago. Since this time, more than 200 studies have been conducted in various universities worldwide. Externally, Black cumin seed treats a variety of skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, burns and skin infections. It also relieves joint pain, and helps make wrinkles disappear.

Burdock Root –

Burdock is one of the finest blood purifiers in the herbal system. Burdock has traditionally been used for a wide variety of conditions, including chronic skin ailments, rheumatoid arthritis, and cancer prevention. Extracts of burdock root are found in a variety of herbal preparations as well as homeopathic remedies. Burdock is used in the treatment of skin conditions that result in dry and scaly skin such as eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis.

The medicinal aspects of Burdock root have been studied by Hungarian and Japanese scientists for its anti-tumor activity. It is classified as an alterative, diuretic and diaphoretic. It helps the kidneys to filter out impurities from the blood very quickly. It clears congestion in respiratory, lymphatic, urinary and circulatory systems.

Red Clover –

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) confirms that red clover extract contains four anti-tumor compounds. Red clover also contains the powerful antioxidant tocopherol, which is a form of Vitamin E. Antioxidants help prevent cancer and other diseases by fighting dangerous free radicals in the body.

Sheep Sorrel –

Sheep Sorrel has been used medicinally in Europe for centuries. Sorrel plants have been a folk remedy for cancer both in Europe and Asia, more recently in North America. Alleged to break down tumors and alleviate some chronic conditions and degenerative diseases, it is an astringent and diuretic.

Sheep Sorrel is high in vitamins A, B complex, C, D, K and E and the minerals include significant levels of calcium, iron, silicon, magnesium, sulphur, zinc, manganese, iodine and copper. Sheep Sorrel also contains beta-carotene and chlorophyll; citric, malic, oxalic, tannic and tartaric acids and it is rich in potassium oxalate.

Slippery Elm Bark –

Extensively used by Native Americans for a wide assortment of ailments. Slippery elm bark contains, as its primary ingredient, a mucilage, as well as quantities of gallic acid, phenols, starches, sugars, vitamins A, B complex, C, K and P. It contains large amounts of calcium, magnesium, and sodium, as well as lesser amounts of chromium and selenium, and trace amounts of iron, phosphorous, silicon and zinc.

According to some herbalists, an antibiotic and anti-microbial effect has also been reported along with an ability to remove toxins from the body; therefore, it promotes faster healing of cuts, burns, ulcers and wounds. It is alleged to revitalize the entire body.

Turkey Rhubarb Root –

Originating from northwest China and Tibet, Turkey Rhubarb has been in use for over 2000 years. It grows in the Himalayas, and can also be found in India, Bhutan, Tibet, Russia, and Turkey. It was a favorite remedy with early Persian and Arabian physicians. Turkey Rhubarb is one of the more powerful herbs used in Chinese medicine. This herb is considered one of the best natural purgatives, protecting colon tone, purging bile, cleansing the blood, and reducing body fat. It is both a mild purgative and a mild astringent. It can be used both internally and topically to fight infections. And as an external remedy, it can provide relief for inflammatory skin conditions such as boils and burns.

Turkey Rhubarb root has also been used for its antitumor activity. The primary constituents of are flavones, gallic acid, glucogallin, palmidine, pectin, phytosterol, rutin, starch, tannins, anthraquinones, chrysophanol, physcion, sennidine, rheidine, tetrarin, catechin, and oxalic acid (in the leaves). Turkey Rhubarb root contains vitamin A, many of the B complex, C, and P; calcium, chlorine, copper, iodine, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorous, potassium, silicon, sodium, sulfur, and zinc.

Milk Thistle –

Milk thistle is a potent antioxidant preventing free radicals from causing skin cancer. It has been used to benefit health for at least 2000 years. The Roman Pliny wrote of the beneficial effects of Milk Thistle on the Liver. And it was highly regarded by Dioscorides, Galen, Gerard and Culpepper. In the last few decades, much research has been carried out in Europe on Milk Thistle.

The seed like fruits of milk thistle contain three liver-protecting compounds: silibinin, silidianin, and silicristin--collectively known as silymarin, or milk thistle extract. Silymarin strengthens liver cells, preventing toxins from harming the liver. In some parts of Germany, for example, it has become one of the most used herbs. Recent studies also indicate benefits in using the herb for treating psoriasis and some types of skin cancer.

Chinese Licorice root –

Chinese licorice root, or "Gan Cao," has been popular for 5,000 years in China, where it is sometimes called "the grandfather of herbs." Chinese licorice root is said to revitalize the "Center" referring to the "middle burning space." It is believed to drive out all poisons and toxins from the system and to eliminate side effects from other herbs used with it. Gan Cao is said to aid all other herbs in entering their respective meridians and is thus of tremendous importance in the Chinese tonic herbal system. It is also believed that licorice root will clean the meridians and allow Qi to flow smoothly.

Red Tea –

In South Africa Rooibos or Red tea has been very effective used to treat eczema and irritated skin. Rooibos is brewed traditional by the medicine man and placed directly on infected areas for immediate relief. Rooibos contains anti-oxidants, which help slow the aging process and boost the immune system. According to studies conducted in South Africa and Rooibos contains the following minerals: copper, iron and potassium, calcium, fluoride, zinc, manganese, alpha-hydroxy, and magnesium are also components of this tea.

Stevia –

Stevia eliminates dandruff and other scalp problems improving the health and luster to your hair, it also helps to retain your natural hair color. Stevia effectively softens and tightens the skin, smoothes out wrinkles and helps to heal various skin blemishes including acne. People report success from applying Stevia to a variety of problem skin conditions. Stevia is also effective when used on seborrhea, dermatitis and eczema. Reports indicate that when Stevia is placed on cuts and scratches, wounds heal more rapidly without scarring. It also protects against premature aging.

Annatto seeds have traditional been used in food coloring, and currently there has been a trends showing an increasing use in body care products. Annatto oil is an emollient, and its high carotenoid, a beneficial antioxidant. In body care products, annatto oil provides antioxidant benefits while adding a rich, sunny color to creams, lotions, and shampoos.
